Day 1
We started off week 2 with her clue for the letter of the week. Ice cream! Ellie took her clue and used it as a blanket to cover an actual letter I. Super cute, right?!
Then we launched into watching some letter I videos (Sesame Street), and I showed her how to make the letter I in sign language. Then we did some letter worksheets.
I found this ice cream cone tracing worksheet and a capital and lowercase letter sorting worksheet at Planning Playtime.
Here’s a free tracing worksheet available at My Teaching Station.
Our craft project was next. I used these printouts I found at All Kids Network and cut them out in advance. Then we each wrote the letters of our names, colored, and glued them to construction paper. This was definitely my favorite craft of the week, and was super easy to do.
Finally, we played an ice cream cone dice game from A Dab of Glue Will Do. This went really well, we spent a lot of time on this one. Ellie stayed really focused. We played it without dice, and with. Without dice, we took turns drawing an ice cream scoop, adding the numbers, and placing the scoop on the correct cone. With dice, we tried to match whatever dice we rolled to the image on a scoop, then added the numbers and placed the scoop on the correct cone. Ellie seems to have a real aptitude for math, she was a wiz at addition.
Check back tomorrow to find out what else we did for the letter I.
